Թͷ Recognised by THE World University Rankings in Engineering
Թͷ has been recognised in the 2022 Times Higher Education’s (THE) World University Rankings by Subject in Engineering, and has been ranked in the top 501–600 universities. Earlier this year, it also received global recognition as a leading university in the THE ranking for the world’s best small universities 2020; Թͷ was ranked 40th, with the added distinction of being the only institution in Pakistan to be on the list.
According to THE, “The engineering subject table recognises universities that are leading across the following disciplines: general engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering and chemical engineering.”
Two distinct criteria have been marked to determine eligibility: a publication threshold by discipline and an academic staff threshold by discipline. No institution can be included in the overall World University Rankings unless it has published a minimum of 1,000 research papers over five years. This year’s table includes 1,098 universities, up from 1,008 last year.
Dean, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, Dr. Sabieh Anwar, said, “Science and engineering is central to achieving our institution's mission to bring about a change around us. Our academic programmes are carefully crafted, poised in the future and are supported by an eminent facility, a modern curriculum and excellent facilities. The rankings, though not an end in itself, are a barometer of our quest for excellence.”
Թͷ has also been shortlisted for the THE Awards Asia 2021. These awards commend outstanding leadership and institutional performance and celebrate Asia’s higher education institutional excellence. A record number of over 200 institutions from across the continent submitted their best and most inspirational stories, out of which Թͷ has been shortlisted for ‘Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year’.
