Ali Farid Khwaja (BSc 2003 & MSc 2004) Appointed Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP)
³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ proudly congratulates alumnus Ali Farid Khwaja (BSc 2003 & MSc 2004) on his appointment as Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) for a three-year term, effective immediately.
Khwaja is a distinguished leader in financial markets and fintech, widely recognised for his entrepreneurial vision and contributions to capital market development in Pakistan.
Since graduating from ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ with a dual background in Computer Science and Economics, Khwaja has built a remarkable career in global finance and investment. He is the co-founder of KTrade Securities, Pakistan’s most popular retail investment platform, where his leadership helped expand access to digital trading and retail participation in capital markets.
Khwaja’s professional journey has spanned continents and sectors, including senior roles in equity research, fintech strategy, and financial services in Europe and Pakistan. His global experience is complemented by elite academic recognition: he was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford and a participant in the Georgetown Leadership Seminar.
In addition to his entrepreneurial and corporate achievements, Khwaja has been honoured with the Pride of Pakistan award by the Government of Pakistan in 2025 for his work in broadening investment participation across the country. He serves on the Advisory Board of the Centre for Digital Asset Research (CEDAR) at ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ and has engaged with the ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ Centre for Entrepreneurship (LCE), reinforcing his ongoing connection to the ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ community. He is also a recipient of the ³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ Alumni Achievement Award (AAA) and a former president of the UK Alumni Chapter.
In his new role as SECP Commissioner, Khwaja will be at the forefront of regulatory strategy, corporate governance, market reform, and investor protection. His appointment reflects a strategic effort to bring private-sector expertise and forward-looking perspectives to Pakistan’s key financial regulatory body at a time of rapid market evolution.
