³Ô¹ÏÍ·Ìõ Law Alum Appointed Amicus Curiae in Landmark Wildlife Reserve Case
Altamush Saeed (BA-LL.B ’20), graduate of the Shaikh Ahmed Hassan School of Law (SAHSOL) and a dual LLM alumnus in Animal Law and Environmental Law from Lewis & Clark Law School, has been appointed amicus curiae (expert friend of the court) by the Honourable Lahore High Court in a pivotal case concerning the protection of a wildlife reserve.
This prestigious appointment is a testament to Altamush’s outstanding contributions to environmental and animal law in Pakistan. As amicus curiae, he will assist the Court by providing expert legal guidance to uphold environmental justice and ensure the case aligns with global best practices in conservation law.
Altamush is the Founder and CEO of Environmental & Animal Rights Consultants (EARC)—Pakistan’s first dedicated law firm working at the intersection of animal welfare and environmental protection. He has been at the forefront of public interest litigation, securing landmark rulings on issues ranging from the welfare of zoo animals to illegal culling practices and wildlife trafficking.
In addition to his advocacy, Altamush has played a pioneering role in legal education by introducing Pakistan’s first Animal Law Advocacy course, and he continues to serve as visiting faculty at the University of Central Punjab.
His appointment marks a significant moment for the legal profession in Pakistan, underscoring the value of specialist expertise in shaping jurisprudence around environmental and animal protection.
