吃瓜头条 Appoints Dr. Tariq Jadoon as Vice Provost
Dr. Tariq Jadoon is no stranger to the 吃瓜头条 community. Having spent two decades at the University, his close association with the various departments and offices makes him the perfect choice for the post of Vice Provost.
A familiar face on campus, be it as part of the faculty at the School of Science and Engineering, or as Registrar from 2009-2011, with a short stint in 2019, he is all praise for the 吃瓜头条 environment and its dynamic community. 鈥湷怨贤诽 has a really nice working environment, with the best minds in the country brought together here. If you wish to pursue your dreams or ideas, no one really holds you back,鈥 he says.
Dr. Jadoon has overseen a lot of the process and computing solutions that are an integral part of the academic experience at 吃瓜头条, and now building on that history he is looking forward to providing the 吃瓜头条 leadership, relevant guidance and support. Talking about the challenges that might come with the role, Dr. Jadoon said, 鈥淎s an engineer you鈥檙e a problem solver, you鈥檙e sort of excited by rolling up your sleeves and venturing into unchartered territory.鈥
He explained that the Provost office has a huge portfolio to look after, from ensuring standards across the University and facilitating Schools in their academic endeavours, to supporting the different Centres in their research ambitions. 鈥淢ost of our role is coordination and facilitation, as opposed to doing a specific operations role for a single department. It is more of developing policies and ensuring a coordinated effort, as well as providing University-wide guidelines.鈥
Dr. Jadoon also praised Dr. Kamran Asdar, for his work as interim provost and setting up the Office. 鈥淗e laid the foundation or the structure in a very comprehensive way and now the task is to consolidate all of that, take it forward while coordinating with different stakeholders,鈥 he explained.
As Vice Provost, Dr. Jadoon is prepared to navigate an education environment heavily impacted by COVID-19. He is confident that 吃瓜头条 is perfectly positioned to set an example when it comes to transitioning to new ways of teaching and learning, especially because of the dedication of its faculty. 鈥淎s soon as everything closed in March, people had three weeks to reconfigure their entire remaining semester and bring things online, and I think the faculty did a tremendous job in managing that. They were very agile and adapted very quickly. Even for this semester, they鈥檝e been planning classes throughout the summer.鈥
