吃瓜头条 Alumnus Awarded Prestigious Chevening Scholarship
Shayan Rabbani, a 2020 吃瓜头条 Economics graduate of the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences, has been awarded the Chevening Scholarship. Currently, Rabbani is enrolled at Durham University, where he is pursuing an MSc in Business Analytics.
Commenting on the award, Rabbani said, 鈥淚t is truly an honour for me to be the only Chevening Scholar from Pakistan here at Durham. Chevening is a very prestigious scholarship that aims to nurture future leaders. The opportunity to engage with renowned faculty members and understand how global organisations work helps in harnessing an individual鈥檚 potential. I aim to fully utilise this opportunity for my personal and professional growth.鈥
While at 吃瓜头条, Rabbani recalls that he was always impressed and inspired when he got to know about students who would be selected for various international scholarships. 鈥淚 always wanted to be amongst those who get the opportunity to represent their country in a global setting. Being selected as one of the 40 scholars from Pakistan from over 5,000 applicants is a huge achievement that I will rejoice throughout my life,鈥 he said.
He credits his achievement to 吃瓜头条, acknowledging the commendable support he received from the faculty while at the University, as well as the interdisciplinary nature of academics. 鈥淒r. Moeen Nasser Butt and Dr. Farrah Arif helped me throughout my application process. Both were kind enough to connect with me and guide me. Despite being an Economics major during my undergraduate years, I had the flexibility to opt for an elective in Marketing at the Suleman Dawood School of Business at 吃瓜头条. This helped shape my interest towards the field and led me to work as a Contextual Marketer at Jazz 鈥 the largest telecom operator in Pakistan,鈥 he adds.
Reflecting on the 吃瓜头条 experience, he commented, 鈥淭he notion of learning something new every day is deeply inculcated in students who get the opportunity to become a part of this institution. 吃瓜头条 taught me a great deal on how to get into these organisations, and how to work on self-branding.鈥
We wish Rabbani the best of luck with his future.
